My grandmother, Gladys Pearl McKinney, was born in Parma in 1918. She'll be 85, May 24, 2003. They didn't stay very long in Parma. I'm doing a family cookbook for her birthday with a history page in honor of Grandma. I'm trying to find out what the weather was like the day she was born. If there is any record of her or her parents. Simon Peter William Stonewall Jackson McKinney (He went by S.P.)and Annie Dell Pointer (she was native american). Is there anyone who could help me with questions about Parma in 1918? I love this website. You all seem so nice and community oriented. It's really refreshing and heart-warming. I live in DeWitt, Arkansas a town of around 4000. God Bless You!
Just found your website. Have enjoyed reading all the comments. Would love to hear from any of the class of 1951. I left Parma immediately after graduation and went to Washington, D.C. for several years. Am now retired from teaching and live in Florence, Ål.
Sorry to hear of the death of Grace Shaw, she will be sorely missed by all. Love & prayers to all from the W. C. Cox family.
Just wanted everyone to know that I will be attending the next reunion.
i have lived in Parma for 8 years and there is nothing there for teenagers you wonder why all te kids are getting in trouble or hurting other people we really need something in Parma because if not this town in 20 or 30 years will not be here.
I LIVED IN PARMA WITH MY PARENTS,HARRY AND TRESSIE PIERCE, AND TWO SISTERS, LATE THIRTIES AND EARLY FORTIES. MANY OF THE SCENES ARE VERY FAMILIAR TO ME. THANKS FOR SHARING.
A number of our classmates/families had the privilege of getting together this past Saturday at Perry and Shirley Woolsey's lovely home. The day was perfect and enjoyed by all. Our "Class Reunion" is planned at 5 PM on July 5th at Fiddlers in Dexter, Mo. Those remembered and saddly missed were: J. C. Mitchell, Larry Felker, and Roberta (nee) Simmons....all deceased! All other classmates; let's make a special effort to be at the GREAT PARMA DOWNHOME DAYS this coming year.....again, as I understand, there will be a special "get together" on the evening of the 4th!!! I attended high school at Parma High School, graduating in 1953. I've only been back through town a couple of times in the ensuing 49 years. I didn't know about the Parma web site until today.

Friends, forgive us for being so late in extending our appreciation for all the hard work in behalf of all the rest of us former residents. It was very evident Parma is working together like a well oiled machine to have done the job you folks did this year and all the years we have been coming to HOME TOWN DAYS. I think you really outdid yourselves this year but I better save that judgement until I see what you come up with in the future. You have a great bunch of loving people and I hope those younger ones coming along will follow your example and keep this spirit working together in all the years ahead. Thanks also for recognizing the JETS. We have since lost another one in the recent passing of Gerald"Birdie" Stafford. He was a big asset to the Jets and will never be forgotten by those that knew him so well. We are looking forward to coming each year. We will continue to spread the message as we have contacts through out the year. Till then God Bless ALL and GOD BLESS AMERICAN.

Hi there! I was happy to find your site on Internet : I am writing from Parma, Italy , where I attended the schools, graduated and where I am presently living . It is a nice town of over 180,000 inhabitants situated in the region of Emilia-Romagna, North Italy . Parma is located in the so called "Food Valley" , a district particularly rich in food industries from the well known Parma Ham to the Parmesan Cheese , to tomato sauces, Barilla Pasta producer, milk production , etc.. So, for the moment we do not die for starvation! Whenever you decide to fly to Italy , you are invited to visit us ! All the best from Parma, Italy

I made an error on my last entry. Click the "News" tab for the brief update on the "Down Home Days" Committee meeting. This one is correct: The "Down Home Days" Committee met this evening. Check the "News" tab for details of the meeting. The whole weekend was a great hit! Over 200 Friday evening and 600-800 Saturday! We expect more next year because it will be Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5, 2003!

I have family that lives in Parma and I have visited several times. I will be visiting in two weeks also. I am anxious to see any changes to this little town.
Greetings Citizens of OZ, past and Present, and to my dear friend the Tin Man,
Thank you so much dear citizens of OZ, that you paid tribute to our fallen Wizard. He meant so much to so many of us young Ozians, as we were growing up. Like most of us, I left OZ after High School to seek fame and fortune. I always came back to OZ to visit though and I always dropped in to visit with the Wizard, and always he would greet me and was glad to see me. We would talk about the past and he would catch me up on what had happened in OZ sence my last visit. I am sure each generation tucked the Wizard back into a special place in their heart. And so, the memories live on.
You see Witch, OZ and the Wizard, it's citizens and it's boundaries are not about NOW. Time and space are not relevant here in OZ and only a true Ozian would know that. But then, as the Witch, you were always self serving and did not recognize OZ for what it was. Why, look at the Tin Man, it gave him a heart and what a heart it is. I should know, I have known him since the Yellow Brick Road was under construction. As for myself, the OZ School System developed my brain. Why, even the Lion received his courage, as so many of OZ'S young lions received theirs under the tutelage of Mr. Merick. Of course, The Good Witch (Mrs. Barney) also played a role in developing brains, heart and courage.
Witch, it isn't even about the Wizard, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Lion, not any of that. However, these are real people who have devoted their heart and spirit into making OZ a real place. A place where places and events are as real now, as they were in our minds 5,10,20,50,70 or as many years back as we choose to go. Not a day goes by, but what OZ manifest's itself in someones heart and mind. You will NEVER be successful in your attacks on OZ Witch. NEVER!!!
So, OZ lives on. OZ will always be there for it's Sons and Daughters who click their heels together and say "There's no place like OZ" I wonder, how many Ozians will assemble at the flashing light downtown in 2003 at midnight, along with the Tin Man and watch OZ fade for yet another year.
You see Witch, you just don't get it. RIGHT ON OZ!!! RIGHT ON TIN MAN!!!

I found a very beautiful piece of hand made pottery next to a dumpster yesterday and thought I could see if the name on the bottom could be found. Well the name on the bottom was Larry Pudge signed 4/78.
Does anyone know this man he had a brother and they went into business as the Pudge Brothers.
I can't believe someone was going to throw this piece away, it's sitting on my dinner table and it's obviously been used as a planter piece.
Help and thanks if you can, Rob.

Hello Focus,
Well.. What did you think? Roght on cue, huh? On Friday afternoon OZ awakened from a year long nap.. arose and shook out the kinks... then graciously and lovingly held out her arms to receive her many sons and daughters who made the pilgrimage to bathe in memories. A lot of "first timers" returned - a lot of them, I suspect, just because of you. They will be back. All of us are now from places that defy OZ! They will be back because of that - in OZ we still stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance with chests swelled and hands over our hearts - and we still pray openly and mention GOD in spite of "Church & State", AND, "Old Glory" flies proudly from one end of OZ to the other!! Yep, they will be back.. time and time again.
So.. "Bill Morgan Day", huh? Pretty cheesy stuff for a small town boy, wasn't it? Sure did make me proud of you. Not nearly, though, as proud as it made Lance and Marva!! In the more than one-hundred years of OZ, there has never been a day set aside to honor one of our own - until BILL MORGAN DAY!! You were the first one!! What an honor... The Pied Piper of Parma!! Wish we could have seen the smile on your face as you looked down at the replica of your old "hangout"!!! A lot of those there Saturday night were also there way-back-when, too! And, many of them had their children, grandchildren - and even great grandchildren with them. Lot of your original furnishings... free ice cream and sodas... and lots of old pictures. Music of the 50s was provided by your old Werlitzer... lots of folks commented that the first time they ever heard Elvis was in your place!! Me too! Anyway, lots of Bill Morgan stories were traded... lots of old memories of "Focus & Blankey" were traded. Still finding our about you helping out those in need and then keeping quiet about it. Folks all seemed to have a really great time - Thanks!!
Our good friend, Mayor Ramsey, confided in me that the many city meetings over this past year included debates and discussions on just who the Tin Man might be!! They came up with a list of seven names of "most likely"!!
Terry Blankenship wrote and recorded an absolutely beautiful song specially for "Down Home Days". The Parma Jets Championship Team was honored - many are with you... the time capsule from 1936 was opened!!
Was asked why I had not mentioned "Wooden-Head" Walker.. his really mean monkey.. his parrot that could out cuss even Frank Catron... and his bear that could drink more beer than anyone. "Hardnot" Myrick... "Mule" Brown... "Donk" Gee... "Perk" Ledbetter... the really big tree right smack in the middle of Hunterville road (wonder how many wrecks that one caused???)... and, do you recall walking the streets of OZ on a summer night and hearing radios all over town broadcasting the St. Louis Cardinal ball games?? Harry Carey & Gabby Street raving about "The Man", "Country", "Red", "Harry The Hat"... And, Louis Earl Mayo tending the train depot... welcoming home WWII vets, some were POWs - and then, some did not return.
Was great that Max Widner, his Mother Marie, brothers Glen and Jerry and their families chose to join us after 50 years. They really looked good and they know we did miss them. Lots of Cunningham's - one is a 7-handicapper... Lots of Lindley's - always great to see Barbara. Jo Ann Denson's Mother passed away shortly before Down Home Days - she was 106 years old and maybe our senior alumni ever. Wallace and Ione Knight visited - she was Ione Brorene the music teacher when the 1944 school year began and ended the year as Ione Knight... Carolyn Henson was there - haven't seen her in almost 50 years... "Quack" was supposed to be there but did not see him... Bruce Keith after nearly a lifetime... the Norman boys - Harold & Rod... Kermit Blair - but did not see J.C. & Bob... Larry Grace attended for the first time... always great to see Tom Parkman.. Delano.. Betty Young. "Shine" Matthews was there and so was Sara Ruth Parker's granddaughter. Always knew that Tommy Love and Dale Aycock were mischievous - but are they ever funny!! Norma Lape is a piece of work - sneaked sleeping pills into the chaperones hot chocolate on one of their Gym "lock-in" pajama parties!!! One of the chaperones was her Mother!
So many to see.. so much to say and hear.. and, so little time. Then, all too soon the Saturday bewitching hour of midnight approached signaling the conclusion of yet another chapter of OZ. And, as I once again stood under the sometime working traffic light with the midnight hour approaching, I saw things as they were and not as they are. I saw the sons and daughters of OZ past being kept in our memories through our children, our grandchildren and our great grandchildren of the present. Then I thought how wonderful it is that we all take out memories from behind the boarded up windows and doors, caress them for a short while with our hearts and our minds, and then with knowing smiles and moist eyes, put them back for safe keeping when we leave. They will be there for generations to come.
Well jsut wanted to tell everyone I really missed getting to be at Bill Morgan tribute on Fri. and the Sat. get together. I got as far as Memphis and then my back decided I could not go any further so I had to return to Baton Rouge. I truly missed seeing all of you and appreciate Raymond Dickerson and Shelby Delashment calling me to say they missed me. My sister Sue Rodgers Parkman and my niece Ruthie Pratt have filled me in on a lot and I am looking forward to the pictures. God Bless My Little Town called "Parma" and all the great products from those hours in the cotton fields and great times we all had but did not realize it when we were out there.ha It sure taught me how to work. May God continue to bless each one and especially those who put so much time, effort and love into the happening. No Place Like Home is so true!

I missed the presentation of the "Parma Jets". I would appreciate receiving a photograph of the group at the "Down Home Days 2002". I did have a great time visiting with so many friends of yesteryears, classmates, great friends, special friends and new friends. The committee did a great job. Wasn't the cafeteria superbly decorated!!! Thanks to everyone who had a part in putting it all on: Decoration people, setting up people (chairs, tables, tents, etc.), serving line people, committee for everything (special music, sound system, etc.), undecorating and unsettingup people, and many others. GREAT JOB, WONDERFUL TIME!!!!!

I plan on attending again this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and maybe some that have not shown up before. Might bring some oil for the tin man, although he did not sound to rusty in his article. But if the humidity is as high in MS as it is here in AL, he might need oiling. Excellent article! Brought back a lot of memories.

What a great website!!! Who would ever have thought that this annual parma picnic would have lasted this long! I remember well the first Jets reunion and picnic in 1981. . .when I contacted somebody in Parma telling them we were going to have a Jets reunion, they said "Well, let's have a big old BBQ to celebrate, too." and there it went. How exciting! Of course, in 1981 we actually played BALL. Looking forward to seeing the Class of 1952 for our 50th reunion, and seeing as many of the Jets as can make it. We will be there.
Brenda and I will see you at the picnic on July 6th. Brenda's brother Lee Peck and his wife Phyllis will also be joining us there. I believe Lee played with the Parma Jets for awhile.
My father pastor the Church of God in Parma. His name is Michael Davis. I always loved Parma. It is a beautiful place. I one day hope to be able to visit again. I have talked about Parma to my kids and husband all these years. But thanks to your web site I can show them pictures of the place I love. Thanks. Keep putting pictures out. I love to see more pictures of the town itself also. Thanks again! Alicia Davis Amerson

Hoping to be there on July the 6th.
This was a interesting site! I was just wondering about the current high school... you've got the old one but never said anything about the current school, or elementry schools. What's life like in Parma? you would never believe how i found this place, closed my eyes and pointed to a stop in the Atlas. So small! everyone must know everyone there. Well just thought i'd say hey! and tell everyone in Parma one day i'm gonna go there and see what it's like!
I am a friend of George Husted's amd he asked me to take a "look see". Great website!!!
I AM GLAD I CAME ACROSS THIS. I LIVE MONTGOMERY TX. I MISS ALL OF MY FRIENDS. I HAD ALOT OF GOOD TIMES. I HOPE THE HIGH SCHOOL CAN BE RESTORED.

Was wondering who all from Class of 1974 will be at the July 6 get together?

Grad 1951.Recognized many names.Miss Old friends.Do not think the 70 year old JETS can play 9 innings.Enjoyed YR 2001 reunion.Glad to have seen James Teel last year. Continue the memories.
I am not positive butI believe the fire occurred when I was in the 6th grade. That was 1943. I do remember that the 1942 Christmas program was held in the old gym and in 1945 the graduation exercises were held in the local theater so the new gym was not yet in existence. Hope this helps. Someone else may remember more precisely.

As I hear from my contacts it sounds like there will be a very good turn out this year. I have found excellent accommidations at Best Western in Sikeston if anyone needs a great place to stay. Suites at the rate of a room & having taken a tour recently I thought they were the best value around. If you want more info contact me at address above and if we get 10 or more an even better rate. I have reserved a suite : 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room, much more for only $89.10 . They have full menu for meals & outside pool and exercise room. Hope to see you there. No I dont own the place or get a commission just trying to help with a good tip.
I was shocked at hearing of Randall's death, of course accidents do happen all the time. Randall graduated in 1952 along with Harlin Love, William Lane, Wayne Brannon, myself and others. I have spent nights with Randall and his folks as he had spent night at our house. We all ran around together creating problems ha. I am very sorry to hear of his death. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the picnic this year.
I went to school at parma from the 1grade to 12 class of 1977.

Randall Schroyer, cousin of Lance Morgan and Marva Womack, was killed on 5/2/02 by a falling tree while working on his farm located outside of Springfield, MO. He had lived and attended school in Parma. Two years ago he attended the Parma Picinic and visited with some of his former classmates. One brother, David, is still living in Cuba, MO.
I found that a family member was born in Parma, and I was just looking for information. Thanks, Donna
Hello, I have a graduating ring from the year 1941--with theintials VHP engraved inside and the Hi School logo has JHS on the ring. Can you tell me what school this is from--probably near Akron, Ohio. Thanx a lot--Ohhh-the school was built in 1862 or 82(I can't really see it clearly. Thank you very much and also it is a girls ring.--Jayoo1230@aol.com
Tom and I are looking forward to seeing everyone but especially all the Jets that he spent so much time with in the 50s. It seems the Jets were the excitement that fired up summer months and kept them from being the bore that might have been otherwise. Baseball is still a part of our life but as a spectator in Milwaukee or Stl. now. Our granddaughters know more baseball stats than any Cub fan in this Cub town but isn't that the norm for a Cardinal fan? Any former friend or player that wants to contact us we would love to hear from you and plan for a get togather at or after the picnic. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Enjoy the Parma guestbook and web page. Keep hanging in there.
I left Parma in 1965 and have not been back since and have lost contact with all those I knew around Parma. I would like to thank all those teachers that put up with me all those years I went to school there. When I left Parma I had not thought that life would go as it has. It has not been easy with meany battles I have had to face. Right now I have a 19 year old son that is fighting for his life he has had collon cancer. He is due to graduate from high school this year. My E-Mail address is hcdavidson@missvalley.com so anyone wanting to E-Mail me please do so. Harry T. Davidson
On april 21 2002 0shel Davidson a former resident of Parma Mo passed away in San Antonio Tx. He was 85 years old and was survived by his bride Mamie Davidson and his children Dorothy, Paul, Brenda, Harry,James,Robert, Alicia and to many grand and great grand to list. He will be missed.
My wife (Roxann) and I wanted to let the community know of the death of two of our loved ones this week. Bonnie Smith (Bonnie Ray) is Roxann's grandmother, and Pudge Allen is my Aunt.
Thank You.

Attended Parma 1947-50 and again in 1952-55. Would have graduated with the class of 57 if we had not moved my junior year, but I wound up graduating from Lilbourn. My brother, Harold Fleming, still lives in Parma so I get back every few months, but almost never over the 4th of July weekend. Anyway, my greetings to any who remember me from those days.
Attended School during 1953 - 1956 Sixth grade thru first half of ninth grade. Remember a lot of the friends that I made in those years and want to come to the Down Home days and see if I can renew some old friendships.
Hello!
Just happened across this website and thought it is excellent. I am a graduate of PSH, class of 1958, my name was Bilby then. I grew up on Redfern Rd. and am delighted to see pictures of the Schaaf High School pictures, is this the same school. I attended junior high at the old high school.

This is a very good web site. I came accross it while doing some genealogy research. I am looking for any info I can find about Robert Jame Dailey who died at Parma, Missouri in December, 1918. I have found a lot of info about an influenza epidemic in that area in 1918. He married Velvia Edith Bryant on 22 mar 1914 in Stuttgart, Arkansas and had two daughters at the time of his death. they were Dorathea Eloise Dailey and Zella Gertrude Dailey. I don't have any info on what became of the wife or daughters. He worked as a telegraph operator while in Idaho. any info would be appreciated.
My Mothers family was from Parma. My Mom was Billie B. Bolton. Parents were William Henry and Flora Ann. Mom graduated in 1938 from Parma High. I am trying to locate anyone who new any of the Boltons. Trying to do a family history. Thank you.
I'm just browsing to search others cities with the name of my hometown, Yours is very warmy and you have really many flags around there.
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr.John Nunn..
I am writing on behalf of a dear friend, Nigel John Keith, known as John. John was born in April, 1942, in Sydney Australia. His mother died when he was two years old and he was reared by an Aunt. Among his mothers personal effects were certain items that belonged to a Floyd Byron Keith and other information that points to the fact this man came from Parma, and this man was John's father. It was told to John that Floyd died during the war, but, John has been unable to obtain any real facts to verify this either way. The information he has points to Floyd Keith being in the Navy and being in Sydney in 1941.
My friend John seeks nothing from obtaining any verify information, just the satisfaction of being able to answer some long asked, personal questions.
It would be appreciated if anyone knows or, or knew a Floyd Byron Keith, from this time frame, could contact myself. I will gladly pass on any information and more details.
Thank you.
Leonie Hayne, Australia.
Enjoyed looking at the pictures of Parma's early days.

I know that you will probably think I am crazy to ask such a question as I am about to ask but I had to start somewhere so here goes. In 1955 I attended Parma Elementary School, with my brother Leon Stanford, & My name is David Stanford. We lived with our mother and father not to far out of town if the information I have gathered is correct. My fathers name would have been either V.W Stanford or Virgle Stanford, and my mothers name was Mary Jane Stanford or Mary Stanford. What I am looking for is a old address if the school still has one or maybe the post office.or maybe the court house where ever the county seat is. I know that this is asking a lot, but I was out there last July and the location I found according to the direction I had didn't look at all like what I remember which is not a great deal. I would appreciate any information you might be able to give me or any help. Thanks David Stanford 2416 Hwy 243 Haleyville, Ala 35565

My mother was born in Parma, MO on November 14, 1949 to Willie and Mary Washington. I am trying to find out some information about her parents as they did die when she was young, within 6 months of each other. At that time there were no street names and they resided at 6 Ditch. My mothers' name is Emma Lee (Washington) Glenn. Any information received from my search will be apprecicated. I am also requesting the county's name and information on where my grandparents are buried.
Thank you, in advance and May God Bless You,
Alicia Glenn
Just wanted to say I'm going to visit Parma for the first time in my life to attend Down Home Days this summer and have my Dad show me and my brothers where he was born, went to school, etc. We'll also be doing some family history research and I'm looking forward to it all. 8>)
First, I'd like to express sympathies to the Julian, Howell, and Medlin family members on the loss of a precious loved one. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Second, I hope to attend the Down Home 2002 celebration and am looking forward to seeing many friends and relatives there again. Could it possibly be any better than it was last year? I'd like to hear from the class of '58 -- who's going to be there? See you soon!
Jim and I were with Parma schools from 1963-74 and have so many fond memories of those of you who were students and fellow teachers during that time. We often dig out an old PHS to refresh our memories (or settle an argument!) The beauty of a town is not the elegance of its buildings but the heart of its people, and Parma did not have to take a backseat to any place in the arena of friendliness and neighborliness. We would love to hear from anyone who remembers us.
I want to thank whoever posted the notice of Lindel's passing. However, they made the same error Pastor Dave Strem made in typing his notes. Lindel served in the Air Force not the Navy. Lindel would say "we will forgive them for that, it was a long time ago." We were married 41 years in August, so I am having a hard time dealing with his passing. I do have a lot of support from family and friends to help me but it is going to take time for me to adjust. I want to thank every one for their prayers and kind words. I hope to hear from some of Lindel's old friends and mine.It has been a long time. Thakk you again. Connie
I was at first attracted by your website by the name of the town that happens to be the same name of my home town located in northern Italy. I browsed through the pages and discovered a lively account of the life in a nice american town.
My partner has been visiting the University of Missouri-Columbia many times during the last 10 years. We have very good american friends there and when I came in Missouri for the first time in 1997 it was easy to me to enjoy the warm mid-western hospitality.
She is coming again in May and will stay through June. I will join her sometime in June and would like to visit your community for your annual celebration but by July 6th we'll be already on the way back home.
I will check out on the webthe contents of the time capsule after it has been disclosed. I'm really curious.
After setting the record at 159 days underway w/o pulling into a port, the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) pulled into the Arabian Gulf country of Bahrain. 159 days w/o stepping on land. These kids here have done a DAMN fine job. 159 days and they still smile and joke. Now all of their work is almost done. They'll be home soon.
Many of you will remember Lindel Ray Howell, Lindel passed away on February 25, 2002 in Eustis, Florida, where he had lived for the past 30 + years. Lindel was born in Parma on June 3, 1931, graduated PHS in 1949. The son of a beloved Parma preacher, he served in the US Navy in the Korean "Conflict". Younger residents may remember his sister and brother, Yvonne and Shannon Howell. Lindel married a Parma girl, Connie Julian. He adopted & raised Connie's 2 sons Eddie and Steve, and they were later blesssed with their own son David. He was a skilled mechanic who worked in Parma for many years, first at "Ramsey's Farm Equipment" and later for "Curtis Davis Auto Repair". They moved to Florida in the early 70's. In Florida ,Lindel tried his skills at various projects, and ultimately found his destiny in "pottery". Lindel and Connie built a business literally from "dirt and his hands." Today that pottery factor business does sales in excess of 7 figures per year. Linlel had simple needs and simple tastes. Until the time of his passing, he decicated his life to his family, and his work. He never asked for more than he gave. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.
I will always have fond memories of growing up in Parma and graduating from the local high school. Although I cannot say that I have ever attended a city celebration due to family reunions being at the same time. I would like to know more about the planning of the reunion and agenda events. I don't remember anyone ever saying that all of the small city of Parma was included in the celebration.

Annabell, my mother, was a teenager. My DOB 5/17/25.A young man named William Mitchell can probably shed family history insight. When released from prison, they relocated to the St.Louis area, and I was told she had other offsprings thereafter.Orphanages didn't give much information and it seems it will take a judge's ok to go into closed records. That orphanage no longer exists.Delivered by a midwife.Oh yes, weapon used was an axe. Please help. For more info email me Binrilla@aol.com. Thanks BB for your help.Didn't know how to get more space. sorry...smiles. I'm new at using this computer. Plan to attend the Homecoming this July, and by then, hope to have been in touch with whoever writes to me.And write just to be writing, even if you can shed no info. I WILL write back. Peace & Love to all Parma. This will be my first time being there since the tragedy.
Any/all information will be appreciated. About 1927 on the Black side of town a manslaughter occured, leaving two children to be sent to orphans'home in Duquoin,Illinois. The two women involved in that family tragedy went to jail in Parma. One's name was Annabell, don't know the grandmothers name.Chilren's names:Willie Lutishie Mitchell and Alva Lee Robinson. The women were later released when an eye witness verified their statements in the early 1930's.
I'm currently stationed onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). The North Arabian Sea is quite a long ways from home.

Recently retired from the City of Naples and couldn't stand it, went to work for the Sandals resorts in the West Indies and having a ball and just doing as I please
Hello to everyone in Parma. I graduated from NMCC in 1984 and joined the U.S. Marines. I am currently stationed in Houston, TX and rapidly approaching my 20 years of service. I don't know if I will retire then or continue to serve longer. I plan to visit my grandparents (Tom and Lavern Simmons) this summer with my family. I have a new 9 month daughter that they haven't seen yet. (Tori Yvonne Simmons) I have so many GREAT memories growing up in Parma. I'm looking forward to seeing you all. Take care!

I am still hoping my wife Cheri can join me for Down Home Days 2002. There were many very dear friends I hadn't seen in more than 45 years till Down Home Days 2002. What savory memories! Not only am I curious about the time capsule; I remember rooting for the victorious 1952 Parma Jets! Great to see them again! Emiliano, my wife and I--at my insistance--got to visit Parma, Italy, birthplace of Arturo Toscanini, where all sorts of street names are operas, and where parmasan cheese was invented. I translated an Italian song into English and enjoy email contacts with the Italian songstress who wrote the original lyrics. Brenda Hoffman, my wife's sister lives in Pago Pago, so we have visited her twice. Jim Teel, my across-the-street dear neighbor and friend, heaven is richer and earth poorer for your passing. I trust you have already visited my parents and grandparents, and some other mutual buddies. My thanks to those who maintain this web site for all these connections!
PHS Class of 72 will be having their 30 year reunion this year to coincide with the annual Down Home Days celebration in Parma. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Great to see my home town on the net. Hello to all my relatives who still live there.
My new e-address is posted above. You are still doing a great job with the web-site. Hope to see some you at the 2002 reunion. Class of 52. Keep up the great work!!!!
I used to live in Missouri but for the last 22 years I have lived in the South Pacific on the small island of American Samoa. Right now it is very very hot. I miss winter. I love your sight as it made me homesick for good old MO.
My grandparents were Ira and Ruby Pendergrass. My father, John Paul Pendergrass and my mother, Ruth [Cummins] Pendergrass. I am looking for information on this family. I live in Denver, Colorado now and don't get back to s.e. Missouri often. Any information on this family is so much appreciated.

I was born in Parma in 1927, and lived there until 1942. Went to school there from the first grade and part of my freshmen year. My parents were James and Annis McMullin. We moved from Parma when WW2 began. It will always be my home town. I would love to hear from anyone who knew me, my parents or my sister Louise McMullin. Jim (Bud) McMullin.
The Mayor found a time capsule in the Parma High School building. To see pictures, click on "News".
I graduated from Parma High School in 1962, and moved away from there soon afterward. I would love to hear from anyone who graduated around that time. I haven't had contact with anyone from there in a very long time except my cousin Linda Collier Snider. Then recently I connected with Laddie Julian and Jeanette Rowland Ludwig. What a treat!
I am the daughter of Sonny and Sheila Cravens Brannon and the granddaughter of Bea Cravens and of Aaron Brannon, Sr. I graduated from New Madrid County Central in 1985. I just wanted to say hi to everyone in Parma and to say I have enjoyed seeing the pictures in this site and reading the comments in the guestbook. I especially enjoyed reading "Not the 'Tin Man,' and, though, I don't remember everything mentioned in it (I was born in 1967), I am reminded of how much "busier" Parma was when I was younger. I have fond memories of my childhood in Parma MO.
just wanted to say HI to all Parma people
Just wanted to say Happy New Year to all in Parma.
January 01, 2002 started another year and for our class, loss of a friend. Jeff and Marva along with Stanley Pulling attended a funeral in Malden for our classmate, Randy Belt. Randy had been blessed with three beautiful children and four grandchildren and lived his life through the Lord. He will be remembered well by his friends.
